Who We Are

The American Chamber of Commerce for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean (AmCham BEC) is a non-profit organization aimed at facilitating business relations between Member Jurisdictions and the United States of America, working closely with governments and the private sector in member countries. The organization was established in Barbados in June 2013, under the auspices of the American Chamber of Commerce of Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA) and the Chambers of Commerce of the USA (COC USA) in Washington DC, the largest federated business organization in the world with offices in 65 countries.

Member Jurisdictions include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. AmCham BEC has the unique distinction of being the only multi-national American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in the world. AmChams work closely with the government of the host country, to facilitate investment and trade.

AmCham BEC became a fully accredited member of AACCLA in January 2014 at AACCLA’s winter meeting in Los Angeles, making AmCham BEC the 24th AmCham within AACCLA. There are currently over 115 AmChams in over 105 countries across the globe. For nearly a century, AmChams have been the most influential voice of U.S. business across the world. Acting in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation, AmChams pursue business development and trade policy initiatives. AACCLA membership represents more than 20,000 companies and over 80% of U.S. investment in Latin America and the Caribbean. AACCLA and its AmChams have become the premier advocate in facilitating business within the Americas.

The objective of AmCham BEC is to promote trade and investment between the U.S. and the region through free trade, free markets and free enterprise. AmCham BEC remains focused on the improvement of business between Member Jurisdictions and the U.S., within AACCLA territories and the rest of the world. The resources afforded AmCham BEC are unparalleled through its AACCLA membership and its partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Given the current status of the global economy, the arrival of AmCham BEC has garnered overwhelming support and its machinery is ready to work for you.
